The Yuut Elitnaurviat or People’s Learning Center in Bethel, Alaska, is a planned residential vocational education center with the goal of increasing educational and employment opportunities for Alaska Native residents of the Yukon Kuskokwim Delta Region.
The People’s Learning Center provides education that directly prepares students for career paths or assists them in making the transition to a university program, depending on their needs. The program provides guidance, counseling and opportunities in a culturally relevant environment designed to provide support and comfort to each student.
The facilities are being constructed with a combination of federal, state and local grants, including funding from the USDA and the Rasmussen Foundation. The entire campus consists of several facilities including a Construction Trade Industry Training Building (completed), an administrative/classroom/student services (TESS) building and two 22-bed dormitories.
LSI designed and is managing construction on this important residential vocational education center.
