Fairbanks Health Center
The design for this state operated 17,000 sf regional preventative health center includes waiting areas; conference rooms, a reception area, pharmacy, and laboratory. The second floor provides administrative spaces for regional managers and itinerant health care providers. The multi-purpose room includes storage for documents, pamphlets and equipment and features large entry doors that can be opened to expand the waiting area during times of large community events such as immunization clinics. Located in a very urban area, the building was designed to blend with the existing vernacular, yet the gabled entries and warm colors make the building welcoming for patients and staff. The interior colors are cheerful and light, while lobby entrance allows for patient privacy at check-in and makes wayfinding easy, allowing staff to focus more on patient care and less on giving directions.
