Sunshine Health Center, Talkeetna
LSI recently completed this Community health clinic in Talkeetna Alaska. We developed a campus master plan and design for the new clinic building and for staff housing. This 12,000 SF primary care clinic includes exam rooms, radiology, pharmacy, administration and dental spaces.
The facility is designed to provide emergency care as well as primary care and access for visiting itinerant healthcare workers. There are facilities for telemedicine as well. In addition, the design includes provisions for future urgent care expansion. The on-site waste treatment system is designed to ensure that it can accommodate several additions without extensive costs. LSI has been retained to add a larger urgent care function to the existing facility.
The Sunshine Clinic is located on the Parks Highway, more than 70 miles from the nearest clinic in Wasilla. Clinic staff wanted a facility that blended with existing community structures and gave a familiar and comfortable sense of place to the local rural population. LSI’s design provided natural materials, warm colors and a timber-accented exterior.
