Livingston Slone Profile

Livingston Slone is an established leader in the Alaskan architectural community, providing services in architecture, civil engineering, planning, interior design and project management throughout Alaska. Our clients include Non-Profit and State Agencies, the Federal Government, DoD, Native Corporations, Municipalities and Boroughs. Our project types include healthcare, cultural, educational and community facilities, research/laboratories, group housing, social service buildings, and offices. In addition to new facility design, we provide design services for renovation and repair projects, as well as RFP document production and fund procurement documents. We are familiar with design/bid/build, team-build, design-build and construction management methodologies.

Livingston Slone first developed designs for the North Slope Borough in the late 1970’s, and we continue to build upon our knowledge of arctic and subarctic design. We excel at providing durable designs throughout the wide variety of climates and conditions in Alaska, from Ketchikan to Saint Lawrence Island, from Unalaska to Barrow—and many points in between. The map of Alaska is dotted with LSI projects that have withstood the test of time and remain relevant after thirty or more years.

Our award-winning team assists our clients in providing a network of essential Alaskan services and infrastructure, housed in sustainable and attractive facilities. Our designs have been featured in “Cool Architecture: Designing for Northern Climates”, and in numerous AIA publications.  Tom Livingston, FAIA and Co-founder of the firm, teaches a course in Northern Design (required for Alaska architect licensure) at the University of Alaska, Anchorage.  Our many design awards and repeat clients speak to the high standards and commitment to excellence that is the hallmark of Livingston Slone projects.
